Bill Murphy is a great great grandson of Francis O'Mahony through his son Thomas. He believes that Francis had three more sons, among them the fathers of Denver Tim and Rawlins John. Let's follow his reasoning for placing Bartholomew, John, and Francis as brothers of Thomas.

·        There was in Ireland, perhaps still is, a convention that the first born male child be named for his grandfather. The eldest sons of both Thomas and Bartholomew are named Francis. Thus Bartholomew is likely to be Thomas's brother. Also, Bartholomew was godfather of one of Thomas's children.

·        Bill's grandmother was a first cousin of a Wyoming sheep rancher named Mahoney who had a Jesuit son. Denver Tim!

·        Rawlins John and Denver Tim are known to be first cousins. Thus John's father John and Tim's father Francis are probably brothers.

Bill uses the word possible in the following tree because of uncertainties in in his very strong case. Bill invites comments on that part of the tree and the tree as a whole. He has another, much longer tree which adds a subsequent generation.

Possible Descendants of (Francis) O'Mahony

(Several comments have been added by HAW - capped & bolded.)

Generation No. 1

        1.  (Francis)1 O'Mahony was born Abt. 1775 in Co. Cork, Ireland, and died Bef. 1852 in Co. Cork, Ireland.  He married N.N..

Notes for (Francis) O'Mahony:

No records have been found about Francis, but since the oldest sons of both Thomas and Bartholomew were named Francis, it is very probable that the father of Thomas and Bartholomew was named Francis. It is believed that he lived in the Parish of Kilcrohane, Townland of Glanalin, on the north side of Dunmanus Bay.  It has not been definitely proved that Thomas, Bartholomew, John and Francis are brothers.  Thomas and Bartholomew probably moved to the Townland of Cappaghnacallee after their marriages in 1837 & 1836 respectively, since there were no Mahonys in Cappaghnacallee when the Tithe Applotment was done in 1827

Children of (Francis) O'Mahony and N.N. are:

+      2                 i.       Thomas2 O'Mahony, born Abt. 1805 in Co. Cork, Ireland; died July 20, 1867 in Cappaghnacallee, Co. Cork, Ireland.
